Greenland, Ukraine, Taiwan: Is the U.S. Becoming What It Once Opposed? These days, the world order is changing at a very fast pace. Global dependencies and the needs of nations are evolving day by day. Countries that were once heavily dependent on the United States for loans, resources, and security are now actively searching for alternatives. Even Europe, which has long been America’s closest ally, is beginning to question whether the U.S. is still a reliable and stable partner. From the moment the U.S. started expressing interest in taking control of Greenland, global geopolitics began to shift. If the United States attempts to acquire Greenland for strategic and natural resource advantages, then what is the real difference between the U.S., Russia, and China? China wants to take control of Taiwan, which the Chinese Communist Party considers part of its territory. Russia invaded Ukraine in the name of security and access to resources. Now, the U.S. is pursuing Greenland under the justification of development, security, and defense infrastructure. The intention may be framed differently, but the underlying logic of power and resource control appears similar. The U.S. claims it will develop Greenland in a better and more secure way, establishing defense systems and strengthening its military presence. However, such actions raise serious questions about American foreign policy and its moral leadership. This move could alter global power dynamics and weaken the trust of allies who once viewed the U.S. as a protector of sovereignty and international law. In this context, India’s decision to remain strategically neutral deserves appreciation. By not aligning blindly with any single power bloc, India is buying time to carefully evaluate its long-term interests in a rapidly changing geopolitical environment. Neutrality today may prove to be strategic wisdom tomorrow. It is also concerning to hear about proposals where the U.S. plans to form exclusive global groups with entry fees of billions of dollars for permanent membership. This reflects how influence is increasingly being exercised through economic power rather than shared values. While the U.S. has undeniably contributed to global economic growth, including in India and Asia, its recent policy decisions are creating unease among European and Asian nations alike. The United States must seriously rethink its foreign policy approach. With two years still left in Donald Trump’s term, continued aggressive and transactional diplomacy could damage not only America’s global image but also the stability of the international system. If such policies persist, they may lead to long-term consequences for the U.S. and for the world order it once helped to build.
