Nvidia Unveils Project Digits: A Personal AI Supercomputer for Developers At CES 2025, Nvidia introduced Project Digits, a revolutionary "personal AI supercomputer" designed to bring high-performance AI computing to individual users. This compact yet powerful machine provides access to Nvidia’s Grace Blackwell hardware platform, offering cutting-edge AI capabilities right from a desk. During the announcement, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang emphasized that Project Digits runs the entire Nvidia AI software stack, making it a standalone cloud computing platform that can also function as a high-end workstation. With this, AI researchers, data scientists, and students can now prototype, fine-tune, and deploy large-scale AI models without relying on cloud services. At the heart of Project Digits is Nvidia’s new GB10 Grace Blackwell Superchip, developed in partnership with MediaTek. This powerful AI processor boasts up to a petaflop of computing performance, allowing it to run AI models with up to 200 billion parameters. Since larger AI models typically offer superior problem-solving capabilities, this means Project Digits can handle some of the most complex AI workloads available today. The GB10 Superchip features an Nvidia Blackwell GPU connected to a 20-core Nvidia Grace CPU, supported by 128GB of memory and up to 4TB of flash storage. If more computing power is needed, two Project Digits units can be linked together, enabling them to run AI models with up to 405 billion parameters. This scalability makes it a valuable tool for developers working on advanced AI research and applications. Despite its impressive capabilities, Project Digits isn’t cheap. Nvidia announced that units will start at $3,000 when they become available in May 2025 through select partners. While this price may limit accessibility for casual users, Huang remains confident that the machine will find a strong market among AI developers, data scientists, and students who need dedicated AI computing power. “With Project Digits, the Grace Blackwell Superchip comes to millions of developers,” Huang stated. “Placing an AI supercomputer on the desks of every data scientist, AI researcher, and student empowers them to engage and shape the age of AI.” As AI continues to evolve, Project Digits could be a game-changer, bringing high-performance AI computing closer to individuals and small teams than ever before.
