At the center of this theory lies an unexpected observation made during the James Webb Advanced Deep Extragalactic Survey (JADES). The telescope found that roughly two-thirds of distant galaxies rotate in the same direction — clockwise — while only one-third rotate counterclockwise. That’s a striking deviation from what was long assumed: that galaxy spins should be randomly distributed in a balanced 50/50 ratio. This cosmic asymmetry is now pushing scientists to rethink everything from galaxy formation to the very structure of our universe. What could explain this? According to Dr. Lior Shamir of Kansas State University, who led the research, there are two main possibilities. Either the universe was born with an intrinsic spin, or our current cosmological models need serious reworking. Both ideas open up thrilling — and daunting — questions about the very foundation of space-time. One theory gaining renewed interest is the black hole cosmology model, proposed years ago by theoretical physicist Nikodem Popławski. In this model, our universe is not the only universe — it’s one of many, each born from the core of a black hole inside a parent universe. The event horizon of that black hole forms the boundary of our universe, and the intense gravitational collapse that birthed it is what we now call the Big Bang. Popławski further explains that if a black hole rotates (as many do), the universe it births may retain that rotation as a kind of cosmic fingerprint. In other words, if the galaxies we observe have a preferred spin, it could be direct evidence that our universe inherited the angular momentum of the black hole it came from. The JWST’s findings may be the first observational hint supporting this wild but mathematically grounded idea. However, not everyone is ready to leap into such a radical revision of the cosmos. Another possible explanation is that the Milky Way’s own motion through space could be subtly distorting the data. If our galaxy’s rotation or movement influences how we perceive distant galaxies, it might explain the apparent preference in spin direction — a cosmic optical illusion caused by our perspective. Still, as Shamir notes, more data is essential. “We need to know if the universe has a real preferred direction,” he said. If future surveys confirm this pattern, it may shake the very pillars of modern physics. From dark matter to dark energy, cosmic inflation to quantum gravity — all may have to be reconsidered in light of new findings. The question “Are we living inside a black hole?” might sound like science fiction, but it’s being taken seriously in scientific circles — especially with the James Webb Space Telescope continuing to deliver data that challenges long-standing assumptions. If true, it would mean that our universe is just one bubble in a vast multiverse, each universe forming in the heart of a black hole. For now, the cosmos holds its secrets close. But with each discovery, we inch closer to understanding the true nature of our universe — and possibly, the greater cosmos beyond.
