Singapore Introduced Passport-Free QR Code Entry for Faster, Smoother Travel

March 19, 2024, Singapore is revolutionizing border crossings with a new QR code system at its land checkpoints. This initiative, announced by the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA), aims to cut waiting times by 30%, offering a faster and more convenient entry process for travelers. Travelers arriving or departing through the Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints can now generate a single QR code before their trip. Instead of handing over individual passports, everyone in the vehicle simply needs to scan the QR code at the checkpoint. This streamlined process reduces paperwork and speeds up clearance, especially during peak hours when thousands of Malaysian workers cross the border daily.
